Do you want to run for office in Norwich? A number of important positions – thirteen — are up for election at Town Meeting in March, and the filing deadline is late next month.
The Town Clerk recently provided the Selectboard with the chart below of open positions. At least one Selectboard seat will be wide open as Priscilla Vincent is not running for re-election. The Treasurer’s job may also become vacant, as Cheryl Lindberg is considering retirement after 30 years of service, though no decision has been made.

The status of the other Selectboard seat (Calloway) or the three School Director positions (Christie, Costa, Palm) remains unclear, despite my email inquiries. With the filing deadline approaching, potential candidates could use some clarity. Town Clerk Trajman is seeking another term.
Deadlines
The deadline for individuals to get on the Town Meeting ballot is January 26, 2026, according to the Town Clerk’s memo. Candidates need to collect signatures from at least 30 registered Norwich voters and submit their paperwork to the Town Clerk.
Note that the deadline for voter-backed petitions (signed by 5% of the registered voters in Norwich) is January 15th.
Absentee ballots can be requested starting January 1, 2026 at vote.vermont.gov or by contacting the Town Clerk’s office.
For more information about elections, contact Town Clerk Lily Trajman at Tracy Hall.
